Riku had only the faintest memory of the name Kairi, and Sora’s was gone entirely. He knew someone had been stolen from him, and it infuriated him. He vented his anger onto the Dusks and Heartless, onto Roxas’ body and consequently, his own - because Roxas was violent and strong and gave back every hit he took. Gave it back harder.
He knew he had to take Roxas to DiZ, eventually, if he could ever win. That was the mission, all he could remember to define himself by - except for a dim picture of the ocean and a red-haired girl. Otherwise there was only darkness.
Roxas didn’t know there was a mission. All he knew was that Riku would attack out of nowhere, an Organization member except for the blindfold. Roxas wanted to see the boy’s eyes, because all he could do was want, and sometimes Riku’s face would appear in his dreams with black holes where eye sockets should have been. The dreams worried him and Riku fascinated him, and he could never, ever pass up the dark boy’s frequent ( ... )
