Aussie clips on youtube. Hee! :D

I was joking around with Big Boss #1 the other night about Aussies and Americans and I suddenly remembered a funny ad that was showing on television during the Sydney Olympics. I don't drink alcohol because I'm allergic, but all beer-drinking friends of mine tell me that Fosters is probably The Worst Beer in the World, but all agreed that the "I Believe" ad was very cute even though it was a rip off of the Canadian 'I am Canadian' ad :D

I watched the ad again and even though I know my patriotism is being all manipulated, I have to confess I still love it :D Youtube is a wonderful thing sometimes.

The video is here

Text for those who can't play youtube:

I don't have a kangaroo for a pet
I don't wrestle with crocodiles
And I don't wear a cork hat
I fight wars
But never start wars
I would rather make peace
I can wear my country's flag with pride
I am a rock
I am the island continent
My brothers are the Smiths, the Wilson's, the Santerellis, the De Costis,
The Wongs and the Jagamarras
I play football without a helmet [Note from Koala: Hee!]
I like beetroot on my hamburger
I ride in the front seat of the taxi [Note from Koala: Hee! This gets me into trouble all the time!]
I believe this is a prawn not a shrimp [Note from Koala: Hee! Hee! HEEEEEE!]
I believe the world is round and Down Under is on top
I believe Australia is the best address on Earth
And Australians brew the best beer.

Then I found the old Tina Turner Rugby League promo from 1989 that used the song 'What you get is what you see'. Video is here. I remember as a wee koala I used to see this ad all the time. It occurs to me now that Aussie footballers are awfully beefy and have no neck :D

In 1990 she also did a theme for the Winfield Cup set to 'Simply the Best'. Video is here

I think my favourite remains the 1989 one, though. :D
