Something has been annoying me for years now, and I need to get in into the open.

Why the hell did the mother of the prince want a wife for him who would complain? Real ladies are polite! Oh, and vapid.

Didn't she want someone sensitive? Feeling a pea through multiple levels of mattress == sensitive. And in all the versions I heard, in Canadian Catholic elementary school, she was awfully polite about the uncomfortable sleeping issues.

Yes, she did. Today I broke rank out of pity for al the other Princesses who felt the pea and did not say anything. Perhaps I am too worked up over a story, but it really does annoy me. Not just the logical holes, but also what they mean.

That said, I am glad that in your version(s) she was polite about it. In mine, I think the line was, "I slept so badly I am black and blue all over." Yours has helped heal a rather weird nagging itch in my head, there.
