I didn't use livejournal for like three months, and when I got back, everyone had apparently started tweeting. (Twatted? What's the past tense on this?) So my initial reaction to Neal Stephenson's Anathem was best summed up by this comic. I've always liked Stephenson's books 'cuz they're science fiction without being too much of a stretch - they fall into that speculative fiction category, which is much more interesting to me than the pure fantasy that a lot of sci-fi does. Today my awesome bridal posse surprised me with a wedding shower! So I'm watching the rebroadcast of the debates, and I have to ask: WTF is up with the stupid "audience reaction" ticker on the bottom of the screen? It is not imparting a whit of useful information, and is actually just really distracting.
