Mycroft is an incredibly difficult man to find on the internet, it seems. I can only conclude he doesn't want to be found, LOL. Well, sorry Mycroft, but you are officially the subject of my exercise in propaganda. ;)
This is fabulous. Beyond fabulous, it's genius. I love all the analysis here, though I haven't actually had the chance to read every word yet. :) On the subject of Mycroft/everyone, I know that I have some recs for you. I've read some wonderful fics with Mycroft (especially that Mycroft/Anthea, which was AMAZING), and right now I feel the urge to throw them at you. Let's see...Equivalence (I almost had a heart attack because the authot deleted her journal, but low and behold, I have found the fic!), Distinction. Both are Mycroft/Anthea, though the first is the BEST. And then the only other fic I can find at the moment is... the Asteroidea Trilogy. Again, amazing. Feel free to rec in return
( ... )
In all fairness, I may have gone overboard with the words just a bit. I WAS HELPLESS, OKAY. THERE WAS MYCROFT AND AND.... we should probably all be glad this manifesto isn't 4000 words longer than it is, with a section entirely devoted to Mycroft's umbrella.
All of those look great, thank you! Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to read that much fic in this fandom yet, and what I have read is on my Kindle, haha! Hence the mysteriously absent "selected recs" section in this manifesto.
I can't wait for SH2. So excited, fffffffffff. The previews have been driving me crazy. It looks like the first episode is going to be completely and utterly amazing. MYCROFT, HOW I HAVE MISSED YOU. Yeah, I can't remember digging Mycroft at all back when I read the ACD canon, but I absolutely adore the way that Mark Gatiss plays/writes him.
And I have the weirdest taste in men, so all is forgiven. ;)
I didn't know that the new series was premiering tomorrow until last night! Someone should tell me these things! But it was, I must say, a lovely surprise. :) I will pay special attention to dear Mycroft from now on. And I really should get around to reading ACD's Holmes. I own the complete works, I just...haven't gotten to them. Haha. *guilt*
It's okay, I I have strange taste too. Alan Rickman, Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, Benedict Cumberbatch. Generally, my taste is odd because I focus on noses and voices. ♥
this is such an awesome manifesto. very coincidental that i just watched my very first episode of sherlock tonight and was like "wow, what have i been missing?!" mycroft--totally loved him, love what you say about him. rare pairings and characters ftw!
THE TRUTH, MY DEAREST FITZ-Y, IS THAT I HAVE YOU UNDER SURVEILLANCE. At least, Mycroft does.
I'm so excited that you're watching Sherlock now! I felt the same way, like there was this hole in my fannish little heart that I couldn't fill and then SHERLOCK. And Mycroft, of course. It's the face. And the umbrella. And, well, everything.
Thanks for the comment and LOL, I'm glad it's so well timed. :D
This is amazing, simply amazing - I am referring to the composition here, I only skimmed through the manifesto. XD I'll read it later, when I have more time! Kudos on writing up all of that, and making everything work so nicely together.
Okay, okay, fine. Thank you, actually, for all your help. It means a lot that you like the finished product. I have spent MANY MANY HOURS of hard work on this manifesto, tweaking everything to get it juuuuuust the way I want it. The code spans like... 8 pages. It's ridic.
I felt slightly bad about leaving out Mycroft Poppins, but it was getting pretty long anyway.
That's the thing about Mycroft---he just worms his way into your affections without you even realizing until it's too late. Something the Holmes brothers have in common, I think. ;)
Ahahaha, well, there's hardly one true interpretation of Mycroft. He's a very layered person, in my opinion, and there are dozens of ways to read him. Thanks for the comment!

I suspect the Mycroft I ended up with is not the one you did, but he contains multitudes.
