Arthur has been asked to fill the vacancy left by Bailey when she fled the shire! I can't think of anyone better qualified to serve.

Still watching for the aillse. So far, I've seen any number of aillse sheillich down by the burn, but only one aillse shiris and two aillse àmoin, which is remarkably few for this late in the season. I suppose ( Read more... )

That's odd - we have the same thing but it seemed to be because the water companies declared a hosepipe ban due to drought, early last year. That ensured the wettest year in living memory and a chance to take the fry shopping without ever drying their gills...

Surely you have a more ... even climate?

Water restrictions begin Wednesday - whether we need it or not. Some years, it is necessary, some years, not so much. Truth to tell, it does seem to be a bit drier this spring nor last - and compared to the year we had water in the basement, it's dry as a bone!

I'm told that while the rivers have been constantly high-ish, they have not once overflowed their banks this year.

But then you should have fewer of the streamside gillse, surely - and what could be causing the others to hide? It's strange.
