Back to your regularly scheduled programming......SGA art.

Keeping with the theme of my last few weeks (GIMP) but returning to your regularly scheduled programming (SGA), I present you with this one, peeps. lantean_breeze - if you haven't figured out how to do this yet, I can make up a tut. if you want. This was so so easy to do.

Very nice. It looks like layering one picture over the other and then using a font to cut out letters from the picture on top, erasing the rest of it. I don't know if I've done that exactly in the past, but I'm interested to try. I have done the flip shadow thing for the reflective lettering at the bottom, but it's been a while since I have. I don't think I'll need a tut for this one, but I'm sure I will for some of your other creations, like the John/Teyla carnival picture you made. I still think that's one of the most awesome pieces of fanart for them I've seen. I'm not asking for one now, just if you ever do get back to doing something like that again.

Thank you so much for offering to make a tut for me, and please let me know if you'd ever like me to make one for you on anything that I do.

Sorry to write a book.

Love your work,

LB. :)

oh, please, i always write books when I leave comments! You're in safe company there, I promise. ;)

Oh, that John and Teyla Ferris wheels.....yes, that one was fun. I think I did that one IN photoshop rather than GIMP.

I basically found a pic of the couple in front of the ferris wheel, and then found one of J and T, and cut out their heads. I erased anything underneath from the original people in the photographs and made sure the angles were correct with the rotate/scale tool. Then I smudged and blended where the original people came into contact with John and Teyla's heads. Let me look and see if I have the original photos I used and I'll make up a tut.

and yes, that's how I did it. Spacing the letters closer so you can see more. I added a bit of directional lighting too.....

my GIMP projects folder is really filling up with bookmarked things to try out. lol. Someone should stop me from downloading fonts STAT!
