I feel that "Underwear" encompasses anything I wouldn't want to have to answer the door in. (Normal circumstances.)

I want to change my answer. using that logic socks also qualify.

Er, what I meant in that last question was "Socks are a category. Underwear is a different category. Socks go on feet, underwear goes on the torso I guess."

Whether undershirts and t-shirts count as underwear seems to depend entirely on whether an individual shirt is generally worn as such.
