Yes, it's the company responsible for an entire musical number about how a prince should kiss a mute-but-pretty girl he basically just met is responsible for "removing" a kiss from where it "should have" been.

(Admittedly, it wouldn't have been out of place were it there, but the lack isn't really noticeable in any way, either.)

People really should stop blaming Disney for everything. I can probably not be able to count how many Disney couples are actually seen kissing in games.

"Holding hands and hugging is a bigger deal over there than here in the States. Maybe. That's what I think, but I could be wrong."

I have yet to go to Japan but I read from a guidebook that I have (I might be going there as a birthday present but I don't know yet) that holding hands and kissing (which is seen as completely sexual) in public causes embarassment.

These are all good points. It is true. I also think that Kingdom Hearts is showing that lives aren't fairytales.
By the end of KH 1, his home is back. Kairi's at said home but he still needs to find Riku. In CoM, Sora loses his memories. In KH 2, he finds Riku and goes home. But there's a letter, we don't know what it is.

In the Disney films, all the Princesses' problems work out. And they get their kiss at the end of the film.

Just wondering, in the Japanese, does Sora use any honorifics on his friends?

Nope! Which is actually why it's even more annoying when authors use fangirl Japanese in their stories...in the actual Japanese games, no honorifics are used, I think with the exception of "sama" (or something similar) for King Mickey, to indicate that he's royalty. But Sora and co. just call everyone else by first names.

Who was it on LJ that had that interesting list of the Japanese words the KH characters use for "you"? There's differing degrees of politeness/gender/social rank that can be indicated by which word you use. If I remember correctly, both Sora and Riku used "ore" because it's used by boys trying to sound tough. :) Mickey, Donald, and Goofy used "boku" because Disney characters are supposed to teach you good manners. Zexion used "boku" as well because he plays at being polite while messing you up. And Xigbar was really rude, even when talking about the Superior.

That was an awesome list.

Seriously? Huh, that would be really interesting to look at!

In the context of this rant (ie I had just read it) I was playing through TWTNW in KH2 and the scene where Kairi runs up and glomphugs Sora all of a sudden had a newer, much squishier context. The squealing that resulted is probably an accurate representation of my feelings.

But, totally. The fanbrat that said the "it's Disney's fault!" thing probably most likely hasn't seen Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, etc.
