Challenge: [193] Destruction Title: The Course Never Did Run Smooth Word Count: 457 Notes: ...Xaldin has taken up residence in my head this summer. I don't know either.
I love how Xaldin talks about why love is so dramatic and cataclysmic, but never encroaches on why we're so addicted to it.
I also love all of the emotions that come out of this, as I've said before-- I get the sense that there's no small amount of respect and envy there as well as scorn.
And I couldn't help but pick up metaphors tied to the Beast-- after all, doesn't love tear down Beast's defenses and cause him to regain his humanity? Isn't that what happens to most of us when we're in love?
Originally he was going to go into the optimistic sense of love but in the end, it's probably better that he didn't. He's probably too grumpy for that, especially if he is drunk after all. xD
But then again, he's Xaldin, and as not only a fighter but a manipulator, he has to be able to respect something that can damage a person as well as love can. Erm, I think.
And yes yes! I was thinking of Meg from Hercules too! The lose of their defences lets Beast regain his humanity and Meg to heal her broken heart.
...Oh geeze, you're giving me ideas, Kaiya. I blame you.
Yes. YES. ASDFKL;' I love the irony in this piece.
“I am so tired of tearing out hammering heartbeats.” This is one of the most winsome disillusioned/drunk believable Org 13 one-liners I have ever read. askdfl;'

He is! Him and Luxord would make quite the pair of drunk charming British men.

I love that feeling of camaraderie, too, with all of them gathered together. And Vexen winning the drinking contest. XD

Hee, thank you! ♥ In my head, one of the original six is never very far from the rest. And I thought Vexen deserved to win for once. ^^
