Exactly! There were a few things I didn't know about, but I knew enough going in that it was like rereading something I'd read ten years ago. It's worth a look if you like horror, but it will trigger you if you've ever been the target of bullies.

I'm not a fan of King. I highly prefer Koontz for anything creepy or thrilling. He is so much less... freaky and yes.

Besides, I have been bullied rather a lot in the past, so maybe someday, but not now :) Thanks for the heads up!

It had eased up for me by the time I got to high school -- 3000 students is so big that even I can get lost in the herd -- but it was very easy for me to picture my junior high school as I read the book. Posh neighborhood, lots of designer jeans. I was already fat at twelve and literally from the wrong side of the tracks. Bad bullies there.

I liked King's On Writing, The Green Mile, and Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, but this was the first of his horror books I've read. A fanfic author whose writing I like recced Bag of Bones, which I plan to get to eventually. I'll see if I still like King after that.
