picking up my grandmother from the airport. she actually flew in at noon, but she landing in ft lauderdale instead of tampa (because of spirit airlines) so we had to drive 4.5 hrs. oof. i'd forgotten what getting up with an alarm felt like. i much prefer waking up naturally.

You know, it's a weird thing. A lot of people at school commented about how often I say, "Really?" and I realized that a lot of Chinese people do it. I don't know if that means anything, but I told George Ding about it once, and he observed how he does it after just about anything that anyone says to him.

For me, saying "Really?" is a placeholder, while I think of some kind of relevant comment to add -- buying some time for my brain, since usually what comes next out of my mouth is exactly what I'm thinking. When I'm totally disinterested in what someone's saying, I'll go, "Oh. Huh!" trying to fake some kind of interest and enthusiasm. ^^
