EEEEEEE! Update. I'm still digging it, though I did catch a couple of typos, if you don't mind my saying:

They had teamed up with Narcotics on the case, and it was to be the biggest of there career. It should be their instead of there.

As the first ones on scene, they decided not to wait for their back-up and go in hot, hoping to catch one of the men before they made there escape. Same their/there issue.

Dude, I'm watching Saraha--for lack of anything else to watch and laziness at finding an actual DVD. The movie sucks but the soundtrack is amusing the hell outta me!

Yey, Jack's POV! Jack is a really interesting character in all of this. I remember from the short story that Jack made a comment that he didn't really get the killer's motivation, so I'm wondering if that is going to change here. I liked the contrast between Jack having known Gwen for ages and can read her voice over the phone and not noticing some of Ianto's reactions, who has been his lover for 3 years.

Also I'm curious about the timeline on Jack and Ianto's relationship. If Jack was injured 4 years ago and started dating Ianto 3 years ago, then did Ianto start a relationship with the new criminal psychologist to help hide his own activities? (I'm loving the Cyberwoman parallels here.)

So yeah - I'm having fun with this fic.

I enjoy writing Jack almost as much as writing Ianto for this particular fic - fun all around.

I can't answer your motivation question, because then that would give away some information that would ruin future revelations. Sorry. ^_^

Your timeline is correct, but motivations aren't complete. Again - something that I can't really explain. I may put a little of Ianto's reason for starting a relationship with Jack in this later on, but I'm planning on fully exploiting Jack's reason for starting a relationship with Ianto in another oneshot that's set before "Day In The Life" and is from Jack's POV (this is to go more in depth in another aspect of this fic that I can't go into yet because that part of the plot hasn't been revealed.)

I'm glad that you're reading so deep into this, I love it when my readers do that. ^_^

I wasn't really expecting *answers,* I wanted to share some thoughts that I had while reading this chapter. (And fishing for hints as well =)

I am glad to hear that there are more motivations involved in Jack and Ianto's relationship because part of me (the Jack/Ianto shipper) hopes that they do really care for each other and rest is pretty confident that it will be a fantastic story. =)

I'm looking forward to more plotty goodness.
