Game of Thrones review

Being a poor slob without HBO, I had to wait until I could get my hands on the first season DVD set to see the screen adaptation of one of my favorite series of books: G.R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire. My awesome dad eventually tracked down a copy after finding it sold out at the first store he tried, and I have now been able to watch the ( Read more... )

"Is the animal for House Mormont pedobear?"

BRB, dying on the floor right now. XD

I still haven't seen this series (no HBO for us, either), but I've read the books and I think a friend is getting the DVD's soon, so we'll watch it then. So excited!

I hope we're spared Sam Tarly's "fat pink mast" when they get to A Feast for Crows.

That would definitely fall under "The Ugly" when I do a review of that season. XD (They did a good job casting Sam as well, but nobody needs that image seared into their brain.)

The nudity in the first season wasn't terribly excessive, contrary to what some reviewers griped. There were topless women in brothels and bathing scenes, but that's to be expected. There were a few sex scenes, including some Dany/Drogo action and the one right before the Defenestration of Brann, but (except for teh bewbs) the crucial areas were concealed. Several bare butts, but only one instance of frontal male nudity (the poor sap who tried to poison Dany and was forced to run, naked, tied to the back of a horse--we saw his swinging manly bits briefly.)

Not, y'know, that I paid attention or anything. *whistles innocently*

Another ugly moment for your list when you review Season 2. I, for one, am curious on how they're going to make Tyrion look at the end of the season. You know, after he gets a Saurfang Facial treatment? ;)

That's going to be a heckova makeup job, yes?

Second, and I kind of doubt they'll be showing it in graphic detail (at least I hope they won't) is the emergence of Melisandre's "Shadow Babies".

Things I AM looking forward to in Season 2 are nine episodes of Tyrion pwning Joffrey, Cersei, and everyone else in King's Landing, Night's Watch mis-adventures beyond the wall, and, of coure, Brienne of Tarth. :D
