If I had a hammer...

Well, I do!  Himself bought me a very nice little hammer, for doing things like hammering studs and poppers into things, and hammering the odd seam flat.  But I borrowed his large claw hammer for this job.  Banging the large metal eyelets into the gazebo walls. I tried using the mallet, but it didn't have quite enough clout.  ( Read more... )

I think that "War, Diplomacy, Evil Undead Activity, and cake, all weekend, liberally sprinkled with Attempted Murder, Surgery, and Pimms." sounds like the BEST WEEKEND EVER!!!

It was pretty damned good, I can tell you. Perhaps less excitement than setting up shop and fettling the last bits and being shot in the face by my long lost sister! Brokering the deal on handing over the family silver and having Peace Breaking Out in the Dance family involved three different gods, a slew of priests and intermediaries, and a serious amount of Cake and smoked salmon sandwiches!

And this game all comes to an end this season... Damn! Wish I'd got into it sooner.

Bacon cake....seriously this will have to be tried.
And the heat breaks over the weekend here, and I have a GF cake mix and... yeah.

Bacon cake was good, and surprisingly normal, in the setting...

Well considering that our dearest Mama used to make fish custard, bacon cake seems possitively banal. Glad you had a great time. Want to join in, but I suspect the only role I would be suitable for is one of the evil undead, I feel evilly undead at the moment! Surgery and a copy of Broadsword and The Beast might revive me, mine was tape, and it died! Cake would also help. Am spending jubilee weekend with foot up, regarding horrible swelling and black and purple knee and toes with acute disfavour.

I don't remember Ma making fish custard, though I DO remember Granny making it. She'd put everything in the dish and leave it to cook very gently in the bottom of the Raeburn while we all went out for the day.

The raven will sympathise with the foot. She tripped over a tent peg in the dark... Not any old tent peg: onne of those 3 foot long iron jobs they use for the marquees, with massive rope guy ropes. She landed on one knee, and has a bruise from knee to arch of foot! It's gone all techneuos glorycolour too...

Out of My House and Being Useful - I like this concept!

Me too. Landfill is WRONG. Any fabric that we can't find a use for as is gets recycled anyway, but it's satisfying to see how useful these old saris were.
