I don't know if any of you are into alternative modes of transportation that have arisen in the last couple of years, but if you live in LA like me, they pretty much have transformed the landscape. ( It used to be if I wanted to use a cab )

Hi!!! Hope all is well! Sorry for sort of falling off the face of the earth for a while there, but I did remember your birthday and send an email. :)

I haven't used Uber or Lyft yet. Good to know. Most of the time when I need a lift somewhere, it's to the airport and there is a reliable company associated with the airport that I am mostly fairly happy about. Plus, I live about 10-15 minutes from the airport and it ends up cheaper to pay the toll than go the long way round, so I don't think Lyft or Uber could undercut any of that. But, I haven't looked.

Sort of a crazy story with your ex-housemate there. That's a lot of money to be out of pocket for, whether it was due to a misunderstanding or she was taken advantage of. Do you tip Uber and Lyft drivers as well? Or is that included in the fare?
