Superheros and Snow
for
pumpkingelatin The worst storm of the century they were calling it, possibly even of the decade, and he could hardly be surprised when his symbol appeared in the sky. By day he was Kyuhyun, the technician that sat on the phone and told old ladies just how to fix their wayward computers, but any other time he was Technoman, superhero of the city - which he was certain was just a really cleaver way of saying he had a special touch with computers.
His spandex outfit, because every superhero needed one, was dark green with silver lines snaking all over it, and a large T emblem in the center of his chest. It hadn’t been his idea, but he had heard that every superhero needed a disguise, and he had to agree with that. Still, spandex outfit made of special fabric designed to maintain his ideal body temperature in any weather aside, he wasn’t certain what he was supposed to do against a blizzard. Build a force field?
Yet when the power had gone out across the city, he had been called in, which had only resulted on him standing on top of one of the tallest buildings in the city and wondering what exactly he would have to do to get everything up and running again. “I wonder if I could have lightening strike everything. Maybe that will jump start it.”
“It wouldn’t matter,” a young voice said from behind him, “as long as I feel so alone the weather will always be like this.”
Kyuhyun turned to find a young man in his early twenties dressed in a light shirt and jeans staring forlornly at the city. “How can you be alone in a city full of thousands of people?”
“Easily. No one looks at me twice. No one loves me,” he lamented.
For a moment Kyuhyun thought about offering a snarky reply, but if this boy was truly controlling the weather then maybe, that would be a bad idea. After all, blowing snow was bad enough, hail would be worse. “I’m Kyuhyun. What is your name?”
“Henry,” the young man offered.
“Well Henry. I can’t say that we are in love yet but this is a good start,” Kyuhyun offered.
“Really?” Henry said brightening instantly.
“Really. In fact we should try a kiss and see how that makes us feel,” Kyuhyun suggested, noting that the wind had lessoned already.
Henry paused as if considering. “Alright,” he agreed. Kyuhyun nodded, stepping forward and taking one of Henry’s hands in his. He leaned in carefully and pressed his lips to the other young man’s without another word. A second later Henry was making a soft noise and pressing against him.
When they parted for air, Kyuhyun noticed that not only had the wind and snow stopped, but that the sun was beginning to peek out from the clouds as well. “What do you say we try to make this a tropical island?” Kyuhyun offered. Henry nodded and Kyuhyun leaned in and kissed him again, his hands shifting down to-
With a muffled noise, Kyuhyun sat up in bed clutching his sheets wide awake. His breathing was labored and he prayed it was from terror and nothing more.
“What’s wrong,” Sungmin asked groggily from the bed across the room.
“Nightmare,” Kyuhyun mumbled, after checking to be certain he wasn’t dressed in any hideous spandex outfit.
“You wanna talk about it?”
“No,” he said immediately.
“Okay,” the rustling of blankets told him Sungmin had rolled over, having decided his duties and roommate and friend had been fulfilled. Kyuhyun was glad because he didn’t want to relive that anytime soon. He rested back on his bed gingerly closing his eyes and vowed as he did so, never to let Henry pick the movie or the snack for the after concert calm down ever again.
