“Hello, Donna.”
There he was again. Tall bloke in that same leather jacket. There every day when she went for her mid-morning coffee break. Bit creepy she’d thought at first, like one of them pedophiles you always hear about, but the coffee shop wasn’t near any schools less you counted that so-called “Institute of Cosmetology” three floors up.
Mom actually had the nerve to suggest she go to one of those. “Get yourself a real career,” she’d said and Donna had barely been able to talk to her for three days after that.
Donna was good at what she did and she knew it. Not anyone can be a temp, you know. Just walk into an office and figure out who’s who and what’s what so you can keep it running properly until so and so gets back from their holiday or having a cold or being on holiday while pretending to have a cold.
Three weeks at Sutcliffe and Best, LLC. Three weeks of seeing the beaky fellow and his smile. After the first week, she’d decided to smile back and he’d asked her name and never quite bothered to give her his.
Twenty minutes every morning and he was always there, looking for something, which she’d decided was somebody. Maybe even her.
Well that was silly of course. He couldn’t have known she was going to be there one day before three weeks ago, but maybe she was what he was waiting for now.
Even sillier, if you thought about, so she didn’t too much. Just smiled and ordered her coffee, and wondered if Susie or Sally or who-ever might just take another week off.
She liked this place. The coffee breaks, anyway.

Fandom: Life On Mars/Torchwood
Pairing: Gene Hunt/Jack Harkness
Wordcount: 175
Rating: PG13
Gene didn’t know which he liked less; the look this so-called “Captain” was giving his DI, emphasis on the his or the slightly dazed look that Tyler had on his face in response.
The last thing he needed was some pseudo-military operation from Cardiff of all places, coming in to screw up a bust he’d been working on for months, claiming something about illegal aliens, much less to have DI Tyler letting his frilly side out just because some other ponce in a long coat gave him the kind of smile usually reserved for a pimp turning out a new girl just off the bus from nowhere.
On second and even third thought, which was far more attention than he wanted to be giving the matter, it was the look that Jack Harkness gave him that made him wish he had the fellow alone in an interrogation room.
Then he could ask Harkness where the hell he got off looking at another man that way and why the hell it made him feel like this?

Fandom: Dr. Who
Pairing: Master/Rose Tyler
Rating: PG
Wordcount: 135
So this was the Rose Tyler who still permeated the Doctor’s thoughts, his hearts, perhaps his very soul, the Master thought, watching from a safe distance, as Rose and her mother shopped in this world’s version of Harrods.
No wonder the Doctor hadn’t been able to let go. Or hang on for that matter. Typical of him, really. He always tried to do the right thing and inevitably ended up hurting everyone in the process.
The Master knew full-well the amount of pain he caused. No excuses or self-delusion for him. His victims were completely destroyed, rather than being left with sad half-lives waiting for their Doctor to come back and rescue them from boring mediocrity.
Poor Rose. So lonely, so lovely, so ripe for his affection and attention.
She’d never know what hit her.
