*Finally* getting around to responding to comments--sorry for the delay.
Thanks so much! Honestly, if I hadn't written it, I'm not sure I would've read something with the premise this fic has, so I totally get where you're coming from. The parts with the OCs in the brothel were what finally convinced me that I was capable of writing this fic, because it just would've been too pitch-black with just the clients. Well, that and I needed some place where I could see Felix's POV, and I wanted to play with life in the Fleet, but they were essential.
Heh, yeah, Zarek wasn't much of a problem (except for the part where he was too interested in frakking to want to talk), but Lee gave me problems. I'm glad that one worked for you in particular, because boy, he and I wrangled a lot over getting that one plausible.
You know, I had a brief moment where I actually thought you might send him off with Dillon and make him a martyr, and I was so chagrined!Oh noes!! I couldn't have done that to poor Felix! ;) Long before I knew where exactly it

“I may have been with you, but you were never with me.” Nice line. Again, very true. You are very good at setting the exact right tone. That's Felix/Gaius in a nutshell.
Such an interesting ending! Gaius, Felix and Louis. I'm glad that Felix came back to the Galactica--home--but I admit I still wonder about Rhea and Rosie.
Everyone wants forgiveness sometimes. At least Felix finally felt he could forgive himself. And yay, Admiral Hoshi! I always liked that part. :-)
Great story! I know you worked so very hard on it and it was a good read. :-)
Thanks! There was no way I could end this on a sad note with Felix, after putting him through the wringer. Also, no worries on Rhea and Rosie, because they do just fine. Earth 2.0 isn't too far off now, and life gets a lot better for them, out in the open air.
Sorry for the belated review, but I love this story -- it's so dark, yet realistic and nuanced. The chapters with Saul and Kara were especially powerful. Saul's messed-up Ellen!Felix/Cavil thing was perfect, as was Kara's role in the assisted suicide of her pilots. I also love the idea that Gaius was the one to get Felix out of there, and that it was really Hoshi working through him; there's a lot of truth in that, and I loved Gaius and Felix's conversation in the Rising Sun.
I particularly enjoyed the way you captured the show's overall plotline, despite having very few explicit callbacks to it; given how isolating Felix's world had become, the subtle approach was very effective. Great job!
I absolutely love this fic. It's such a great read. Can't believe I never got to it before now :)
You really get at the core of everyone who comes to visit Felix, I love how every chapter's a deconstruction of these characters as much as it is of Felix. Every one is so spot-on.
