Useful Kanji for Japan

 While in Japan I noticed that while the whole country is pretty dual language, many signs are sometimes Japanese only, or the Japanese is much easier to read from a distance. Many of these need to use kanji, which can be a bit of headache for people with little to no Japanese.

Hello! I think you can answer my question about Japan. I am curious whether there is a possibility to travel from Japan to the USA by sea?

Sorry - I am from the UK, so its not something I ever investigated. I only ever looked at ferries between the islands of Japan. I do know that there are links to/from China and Korea however, usually to Osaka or Kanazawa.

Try http://www.japan-guide.com/ particularly the search and the forum section. There is a lot of stuff from travellers/ex-pats there who might know more 'local' knowledge.

Thanks, my problem is that I'm afraid of planes since my childhood, so I prefer to travel by land or by sea. Anyway, thank you, if I have questions about Japan, now I know the person to address to!))

Depending on your location in the US, it might be possible to go via Korea/China/Russia, then Alaska (if thats even possible)? There is some info on the first part on The Man in Seat 61, which a very good website if you are plane-adverse;
