If transgender men are men, and transgender women are women -- and I believe both of these statements to be true -- when can we stop referring to transgender men and women as "transgender"?

I'm a man, and it would irk me if people started referring to me as a "transgender man". I mean, I'm not a transgender man, but if I were it would still irk

You know what? EXACTLY this point is something that my mind [Spoiler (click to open)](in my own affectedness) never understood. Why calling yourself out a "trans person" for the rest of your mortal days

This is so on point. Not to take away from a person's struggle, but I have always been confused about the "trans" title when it is not what they are embracing.
