If Matt had been honest, he would've admitted that thoughts about what to do with this had preoccupied him, even though it wasn't ready for public consumption. It was the beta version, if that. Gamma, even, maybe.
"Trying to make electricity." He knew he was blushing, for all that he tried not to.
He recognized this guy from the network, though he hadn't actually talked to him. He seemed to have gotten into the swing of things in Kannagara much better than Matt had, with the construction and all. Matt found that project interesting, and thought it was probably more useful in improving relations with the locals than his own would ever really be, but he wasn't exactly built for manual labor. He was pretty sure that if he tried to do anything more advanced than use a soldering iron, he'd take a hand off, or something.
"I mean, I am making electricity, but I dunno how much yet."

Touya steps closer, begins to take a walk around the generator, his attention obviously far more on the machine than on the man.
"You had to summon some of this, right? We're planning on summoning a few things for building the ryokan, but I hadn't thought about actually trying to..."
He paused, tilted his head, and turned to raise an eyebrow at the stranger. "How long did this take you?"

"Once I had everything, it was pretty fast work, but I've been thinking about it for a while, like a month? Maybe more."
Matt's awfully inclined to like this guy after his calling the little machine 'amazing.' "I tried to use stuff I could find here as much as possible. If I could make a bigger one, like a real water wheel, it would be pretty awesome. Might be able to even wire up a whole village for power."

There was still a lot to do, and it called for a lot more money than Matt had, or could imagine getting, but it was a start. It was a weird feeling, equal parts excitement and embarrassment, this half-formed hope that he could actually change things here, could cause a shift in the world. He didn't really think he would, but it was kinda cool to think, and there were only two people who might've been able to guess at his train of thought, and Elfangor was one.
That reminded him of his dream, and of the dream he'd seen, and he felt heat rise in his cheeks. "Did you, um. I mean, I saw." He had to laugh at how he could still be awkward, after all this time, a little, amused huff. "Feels weird, to see yourself in someone else's dream, huh?"

But his expression softened when Matt brought up the dreams, and he made a thoughtful sound. "Mm, a bit. But that sense of strangeness mostly comes, I think, from seeing my kafit morph in your dream." And that was because he'd not used that morph in front of Matt. The only way he would have seen it would have been that time... when he'd shared his hirac delest. He did not regret sharing that, but it was strange, to have divulged all of that and then survived. (So long as one's definition of 'survival' was loose at best.)
"Apart from that... no, it did not seem so strange." It was true that it could feel weird to suddenly find himself witnessing--and sometimes experiencing--the dreams of others, but there was no such feeling when faced with Matt's dreams, because Matt's mind was familiar, resonating within him in a wordless yet unambiguous way that said home. To find confirmation of that within Matt's dream only reinforced this

Matt lifted the water wheel out of the stream and shook his hand off before lighting a cigarette. There were guesses he could've made. Mostly, he thought, it had been shorthand for how Elfangor had landed in his life and changed everything, without Matt even realizing it at first. And if Matt was afraid he'd... well, fly back out again, he was at least sure by now it wouldn't be by choice, and he tried not to think about it.
"You know you only get to protect me if I can protect you back, right?" He said it lightly, with a mock-serious glance up from under his bangs, but he meant it, and that was a weird feeling, to be able to say that and know he could.

- and then it hits him.
Oh sweet Jesus. Marco trots up to Matt.
"Is that what I think it is?"
He can't stop the excitement leaking out to his voice.

"But this is all it can do so far." He makes the little bulb light up again. "I'll hafta make one that's a lot bigger if I want to do anything really useful with it."
He feels guilty, and not for the first time, that he hasn't been in touch with Marco as much he should've been. "Um. Sorry I haven't, y'know, been around much lately. How've you been?"

He squats down, looking at the device Matt has made. With being the butt-crack of normal civilization, Marco has to give credit where credit is due - or at least, Ax might have, was he still here. "You did this on your own, or did Elfangor help you out?"

"I mean, he kicked in some funding for it, but that was all."
