Ragnar Tørnquist Interviewed on Rock, Paper, Shotgun

Here is a three part interview with Ragnar Tørnquist, found on Rock, Paper, Shotgun. If you've played The Longest Journey and/or Dreamfall (and if you haven't, for shame! Oh, and also spoilers.) then you would probably find this very interesting.

(And is it just me or does Mr. Tørnquist look at least a little bit like Anthony Stewart Head?)

The fightng system in dreamfall is so messed up I can barely play the game. it made me so sad. that, and they didn't get april's VA back from teh first one.

Yeah, the only reason that I think they even included combat at all was in a King's Quest Mask of Eternity-like attempt to be "with it" with the twitch kiddies who likely didn't play and wouldn't have played this game regardless, and it ended up failing miserably. At least Mr. Tørnquist himself agrees in that interview that the combat was pretty bad, which I hope is a sign that it will be improved or, better yet, removed altogether for Dreamfall Chapters. At least there's not all that much combat in the game that I can recall, and quite a bit of it can be avoided, but that still doesn't really excuse it.

As for April's voice, however, they did get Sarah Hamilton (the original VA from TLJ) back again for Dreamfall, at least according to the manuals for the respective games, anyway. (IMDB and mobygames seem to agree on this as well.)
