Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know I'm wayyy behind lately when it comes to the election. Been so busy this week I've barely had a chance to breath. But hey, better late then never right?

So I FINALLY sat down and watched the debate in full on YouTube today.... Wow. Just...WOW!! The sexual tension between Obama and McCain was so thick you'd be lucky to ( Read more... )

I don't know. There's a lot of Clinton hate left over from the nineties. I wouldn't have had a problem voting for her, but there are other issues that play into that; I think it was going to get contentious no matter what.

Anyway, I don't get the vibe you do off Michelle. I just think she's a strong lady - which gives a lot of people an Angry Black Woman convulsion, but I just don't see it.

True, Bill Clinton was pretty much a laughing stock by the end of his term but I dunno how much that would've translated onto Hilary. Some people think she's very strong for putting up with his multiple infidelities. Personally, I lost respect for her for staying with him after that.

And yeah, I didn't even see Michelle as an Angry Black Woman (wasn't even thinking of her race), I just get the crazy ex-girlfriend vibe from her. You know the type that will cut up all yoru credit cards and key your car? I see her strength but for me it's like coffee without a filter. Whenever she smiles it just makes me think of oil on water. Feels fake. But hey we all get different vibes off people. Nothing wrong with that. :-)

I was more speaking of the conservatives who fully believe that Bill was poised to let Hillary take the country over. The knee-jerk leftover "I HATE THAT BULLDYKE" shit I saw here during the primaries gave me flashbacks.

And I wasn't saying your reaction to Michelle was an "ohnoes, ABW alert!". I think she may be a bit fake, but, it's the campaign trail. Sometimes you have to plaster on a smile you don't really feel. God knows she has to be worried: her family is receiving real threats, racist epithets, her husband's is the New Face of Racist T-Shirt Designs...I'd be a bit glassy at this point, too.

Yeah, I got really sick of hearing the bulldyke comments too. I dunno why everyone keeps making this election about race and/or sex. Just stick to the issues! I don't care what color your skin is or what you've got dancing around in your happy pants, I just want to know how you plan on pulling this country out of the crapper. That's it. *Le sigh ( ... )

Are you talking about her thesis, which was on the Black experience at Ivy League colleges? I don't interpret that as "anti-white" or particularly radical, except by the definitions of those who consider anyone ever talking about racism or race to be radical. The media seized on that one like whoa, but there's no there there, and no "whitey" video either. I don't think there should be a backlash from anyone for discussing intelligently that being a minority in the predominately white Ivy League can create isolation both from the predominately white college environment and from other Blacks, which is about as "radical" as I've read her work got. That's not radical, it's just real.

I will confess, I spent most of the Ole Miss debate tensed for a shot to ring out and visibly relaxed once it was over. It's sad, really.

Oh no, I firmly believe in freedom of speech regardless if it carries hate with it or love. Michelle is free to say what she wants to, write what she wants to, etc. If people don't like it or take it the wrong way then that's too bad. My point is she wasn't too worried about it back then or she wouldn't have written anything so it makes me wonder how worried she is now. I mean Barry's her hubby so of course she's going to worry over his welfare but she isn't scared enough to beg him to stop. In fact, from what I see she seems to love all the attention.

Plus the woman has made some startlingly wonky public comments (http://tinyurl.com/3l28xn). My favorite, of course, being the whole "for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is making a comeback" spiel. You don't state something like that without expecting backlash. In fact, you have to be either pretty brave or pretty suicidal to make that type of statement while your husband is ( ... )

Oh, there's already been one foiled attempt - the meth-addled racists in Colorado. We'll just have to see.

Really? Wow. How come that wasn't all over the media?? I haven't seen it anywhere.

And I'm sure there were many more. We just don't hear about them. Thank God no one's been successful yet. Disagree with the man's views and stances, yeah, but he doesn't deserve to lose his life over it.
