I am not dead, or lost, and haven't forgotten my LJ password. I am just swamped under revision for AS exams, which started last week, and are melting my brain. I've only had three so far: Roman Britain, which, surprisingly, didn't go too badly, and two English Literature exams, which did. And it is no use saying that I am Super-Kate, and everything ( Read more... )

i always think you're so lucky for doing sailing courses, i hardly ever get to go anymore because of work (in decathlon and at college). and about the changing uni plans, i'm not going to say it'll be alright because i understand how annoying that can be. however, i will say, it can be good to be flexible!

oh and my parents are away for this week too, maybe we should do a "house to ourselves" dance :P

OMG School of Rock! So much love. :)

So tell me, how does the Niccolo series compare? Should I begin reading immediately?

The Niccolo series is quite good. It isn't a patch on Lymond, of course, but it is a nice prelude to the Chronicles. Although don't expect to read them and find a 'Lymond Mark One' - Niccolo definitely isn't. (In all honesty, he's a bit of a twit.) By they are a jolly good read, and accompany Lymond quite well, even if they don't fill you with quite so much awe. So yes, read them. Although, like the Lymonds, remember that there is a severe danger of them driving you insane, and having urges to throw books/set fire to stuff/scream.

A twit? Reading Gemini now for the 3rd or 4th time I vehnemently disagree with that statement. He is brilliant! And in fact I have read both the Lymond series and Niccolo series numerous times and love both but always return to Niccolo. The characters have more depth, more history, more passion. The relationships are so varied! That between Niccolo and Gelis, Niccolo and Kathi, Kathi and Robyn and just every single relationship in there is so utterly different it is a course in psychology within the the last three books by themselves ( ... )

Don't get me wrong, I love Niccolo. I adored his flaws, the way that he grew up throughout the books, and the relationships that you mentioned. And I do think that he's brilliant. He's clever in a way that Lymond isn't - they differ in their talents. I loved Niccolo's characterisation - when I said that he was a bit of a twit, I didn't mean that this made me not like him or think him not worth reading. I loved his twittiness, and the way that he got through it, learning to live with himself ( ... )

Hello Kate!

It's Megan here (aka she who was Gwen.) I've made myself a shiny new journal, and I'm making a re-entry into the fabulous world of LJ. I've friended you, and I thought I should probably let you know who this is, seeing as the username is more than somewhat obscure.
