a few things...

kali: So, yesterday on the subway I saw a Weird ThingTM. A woman, dressed in the top half of an expensive-looking and nicely cut business suit (jacket, shirt), a very conservative hairstyle, sensible yet stylish boots (not even remotely fetish looking), a bag/briefcase filled with lots of paperwork, AND NO PANTS. Just, you know, underwear.

Someone practicing for Improv Everywhere's next No Pant Subway Ride? http://youtu.be/yF9FM6KqCu4

I really want a pair of those Hello Kitty knickers.

Wonder if they did it in the Paris Métro this year?

You know I did think of that, but it was like three weeks ago... Clearly she'd got sucked into the time vortex!

I can't imagine how Parisians would react to No Pants day. Or Londoners, probably even worse.

Clearly she just didn't want to to crease her nice skirt (it was in the briefcase).

I love you very, very much-and working for and with you is always a happy thing for me, be it maps of fantastical back gardens or PhD thesis (theses?). However...

PLATONIC? I am offended, sir ;) Unless of course you mean platonic in the theory of forms sense. In that case, thank you :)

okay, so you posted this like 2 weeks ago. But today there was a NYT Thursday Styles section (yes yes I know) about the joys and perils of living alone, and at the very end article, the following passage:

Pulling a sweater, boots and tights from her dryer-slash-dresser one recent morning, she forgot to grab her skirt, and left the house without wearing one. “I realized it when I got halfway to work - damn it, I forgot my skirt,” she said. And it’s not the first time that’s happened.

Your culprit?

I think you have hit the nail on the head.

(Who puts their boots in the dryer? Or, indeed, their dresser?)
