For some people, gender (including, but not limited to, expression of hegemonic masculinity and femininity) is high-priority. For some it's zero priority. For others it's there somewhere on the list, but it's low priority.

Very much this.
I may have to have a look-see at that book m'self. I mean, I've pretty much come to terms with my own genderweirdness, but am always looking for more/different insight on the whole business.
