computer woes

I've been thinking for a while that while a laptop is nice, a *smaller* laptop would be even nicer. It'd be easier to carry, which would make writing here and there at lunch or wherever more convenient.

Personally, after all the trouble I've had with laptops, I wouldn't even look at something other than a Thinkpad, or possibly a Panasonic toughbook if the price is right and I can play with it before I buy it.

For a general purpose machine, yes. Though our Dell's haven't been bad.

But what I really want is something relatively light, that I can play around with, and do basic stuff with, and I want it cheap, because I already spent ~$1K on the Dell a couple years back, and I want to put linux on it, which I don't want to do with my Dell, since it's one of the few windows computers running around still. And for ~$150... I'd be willing to put up with some issues

Mark just got a refurbished ThinkPad, and it was so light I wasn't sure there was actually a computer in the box. My laptop is seriously heavy. I feel your pain.
