Graze.com: Box #4

May 03, 2013 13:49

It seems like I just had a Graze box!  Box #3 was delayed by the fact that I was in Chicago, and by the time I finished it Box #4 was already here.  It was another decent box, full of things I wanted to try.

Scrumptious Blueberry Swirl
blueberry yogurt raisins, raspberry infused cranberries and blackcurrants

The yogurt raisins were tasty, although I can't say I really detected much of a 'blueberry' in them. They complimented the cranberries and blackcurrants. A very fruity berry snack - and, according to the packaging, eating this gives me a full serving of fruit. I can always use more fruit in my diet! Reminds me a bit of last box's Eton Mess, but the yogurt does a better job of countering the tartness in the other fruit - which is weird, because isn't yogurt generally considered tart, too?
Verdict: LIKE

Boston Baguettes
BBQ relish with tomato breadsticks

Bleach! The baguettes are dry little breadsticks; the flavoring is odd and herby. I'm not sure 'tomato' comes to mind, but whatever. The relish had big onion chunks in it, and did not like to cooperate with the breadsticks. I'd dip a breadstick, get a chunk of relish balanced on the end, and as I lifted the breadstick the relish would slide right off. All that work, and it didn't even taste good.
Verdict: TRASH

Marvellous Macaroon
amaretti drops, almond slices, coconut flakes and white chocolate buttons

I love this combination!
To be honest, I wasn't sure what "amaretti drops" would be - it turns out they are itty-bitty (smaller than a fingernail) almond cookies. They're delicious! The almond slices and coconut flakes gave the mix a nice texture. If those three elements were all that were in the mix, it would be drying - but the white chocolate helps lubricate everything with a nice creamy sweetness that ties everything together and makes this uber-addictive.
Verdict: LOVE

Summer Berry Compote
berry compote with wholemeal shortbread dippers

Two dippers in one box? For some reason, this surprised me - I assumed dippers would be spread out, with no more than one in each box. Just like there would never be more than one flapjack or berry mixes per box. I guess not! These were delicious. I love shortbread and I love berries, and together it was addictive. I may have even licked the little sauce tray clean after the cookies were gone.
Verdict: LOVE

It's really a pity that Graze.com subscriptions are currently invitation only, and the invitation codes are limited to one per subscriber.  I've already given my invite away, so it's hard to share this with other people.
