Today I decided I couldn’t deal with smelling the carpets anymore so I started ripping them out. I’m not sure my back will forgive me for all the time I spent on the floor taking staples out of the hardwood.

if you decided you want crown moulding i would suggest you start fresh or not spend too much time trying to match it.

BTW, for cleaning it - when my parents got wood floors, the people told them to mix vinegar and water (equal parts, I think) and then mop the floor with that. I think - you should probably look it up to make sure I'm telling the truth.
I actually kind of like the color that's on the walls now. I guess I'd put a little effort into matching the moulding, but I'd just take it down if I couldn't find it. And I'd paint it white, but that's probably just me.

It's disgusting and traps so much dirt.
Good job getting rid of it! The room looks about 300% better without it. Nice paint color choice too.

When we pulled up the stinky carpet at our place we spent the $20 on a gallon of "Natures Miracle" and mopped the floor with it. It takes out so many nasty smells and totally worked for us.
