The idea to lock the Joker up was, the clown had to admit, at least relatively more thoughtful than the usual hunt-punch-repeat routine they'd been building. It was interesting, a change of pace that the Joker honestly hadn't figured the Batman capable of. After all, other than the occasional new gizmo their interactions usually went the same way.

The moment the Batman left him alone, he of course tested every bar, screw, lock and bolt that the high-tech little prison cell had to offer. It was all proper, though, nothing exploitable and nothing to entertain him in the slightest. Even the bed, well, the metal board that he supposed was supposed to be a bed - it was all nailed down like a cheap motel.

He didn't sleep that night, barely even closed his eyes, getting so abso-posi-lutely bored with the whole thing by about the first hour.

When the Batman reappeared with takeout, he giggled and licked his lips and ripped the bag open, imagining that big old thing the Bat called a car driving through Burger King. Probably wouldn't ( ... )

"I don't care how your day was. As far as I'm concerned, they're all going to be very much the same from now on, and I'm not the kind of person to waste my time. Especially not on you." He doesn't even turn his face from the screens as he says this. From the looks of it, they're turned onto surveillance cameras throughout the city - it wasn't at all surprising that Batman had managed to hack into and piggyback off of various corporation's security networks. It wasn't quite the coverage that had been provided by the sonar that Lucius had invented, but it was enough to help him patrol from the cave. After a long moment of checking the cameras for any disruption, he looked over at the 'cell' which was really more of a cage.

"Well." The Joker huffed, tearing the hamburger into quarters and shoving a piece in his mouth. He didn't bother refuting the idea that all his days were going to be the same - it'd just start a silly little bitch-and-moan, look-how-righteous-I-am bullshit lecture and he really wasn't in the mood.

He didn't bother looking at Batman when he turned, just kept his eyes on the surveillance of his city. He sure could use a setup like that. It'd cut down on grunt-work... "Say, uh, where can I pick something like that up? Best Buy?" He giggled and chomped down on more fries, finally looking at Batman mildly. "And can I get some caffeine in this joint? I'm feeling like a little, aheh, a bit of a pick-me-up. Or a TV. How'd the Lakers do? I heard they were up against - well, I'll be honest, I wasn't paying attention but hey. I never said I was a sports kinda guy. But it's interesting, the whole, the dribbling and the shooting and when someone gets knocked down, you always gotta wonder if they're gonna... what's the term the kids ( ... )

At first, Batman did a very good job of ignoring the Joker's jeering. He'd listened to enough of it, been goaded by it enough to know when he was just trying to get a reaction. But by the time he was asking for cable on the security screens, Batman turned in his chair, coat swishing across the floor, and got to his feet, walking over in silence and pulling keys from a pouch in his belt, holding them in front of the Joker like some kind of bone.

"I know what you're trying to do. I know that you think maybe, just maybe I'll give in and send you to Arkham - that's where you belong, right? You don't deserve that much. Even the asylum is too good for you. So, you can keep doing whatever you think is most likely to get you out of here, but you're not going anywhere." He thrust a hand against one of the bars, wrapping his fingers around it to the point that, if they hadn't been gloved, his knuckles would have been white from the force. "As far as you're concerned, Joker, luxuries like caffeine and TV don't exist." Hesitantly, he ( ... )
