Even though Lee had gotten a case of booze a few months ago, he never really saw it as a reason to drink more than he usually did. Back home, he'd had the occasional drink with dinner, and before it had been destroyed, he'd caught some R&R on Cloud Nine ( Read more... )

Much as she would have liked to deny it, Yuffie really hadn't been in her usual cheerful, boisterous mood since the day she'd discovered Cloud had gone missing. The whole stupid thing had brought up a bunch of feelings she'd hadn't really known were there, and would have been happy to let rest.

But time eked on and Yuffie stubbornly hunted plants for the chocobos and after on brilliant midnight brainstorming session, had marked up a course for them to race on. It made sense to her, at least. They needed something else to do!

Judging from the sounds they were making when she'd left them, success was finally within her reach. She strolled along the beach with a returned swagger, and was delighted to see Lee there.

So she immediately sprinted over and glomped atop his shoulders. "Hey, whatcha doing?"

He'd seen Yuffie on her approach, and by now, was almost used to Yuffie clinging onto him for no reason.

Almost.

At least this time, he'd braced himself for it when he realized she was sprinting towards him.

"Absolutely nothing," Lee replied, lazily.

They always managed to figure it out, but it was better than say, moving so she hit the ground instead. "What? The great Lee Adama? Is doing nothing?" She staggered back in a fake heart attack, hitting the sand with a lot of twitching.

"The shock is too great for me to bear!"

"Lee was just tipsy enough that Yuffie flopping back onto the sand made him hold back a laugh, covering his mouth with the back of his hand.

"Hey," he protested, "It does happen every once in a while. ITF training's not twenty-four hours a day, you know."
