What is it about your encoding that makes it nearly impossible to save your pictures as anything except an untitled .bmp? I don't have this trouble with anyone else.

If you run out of space in your temporary internet files it will sometimes crap out and make you save all images as bitmaps. If you delete your temp internet files you should be ok. Just close all browsers first. Have had this happen before too, kinda annoying. :)
