My friend had an accident on gravel after a truck spreading gravel on top of tar on a side road just dumped the remainder of its gravel on a regularly paved road...at the bottom of a hill with a 90° turn. >_<
The county was at least nice enough to send a crew out to sweep it to the sides of the road the next week.
the crash I had earlier this year was from gravel over tar in corners. I knew it was there for days and one night was very tired and rode blank minded into the turns like I did before the gravel was down....suddenly my brain woke from cruise control and I though "There's pea gravel here" and managed to make the first corner. the second I was too far out of line for, and going off would have hit a mailbox, a pole, or a culvert depending on what line I chose, so I laid it down instead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gi9EnFr25ZE at 33 seconds is the corner that lay down happened but coming the other direction, and later at 1:26 is where thursday's wreck occurred. The drill mud is not just mud. they use chemicals in it as well, and the tankers track it out of the drill rigs as well as leak some from time to time.
