Oh, dear LJ. It's been awhile.

Most of Jeff's family lives in California, and we've been making noises for a couple of years about going out to see them (and in my case, meet them). Well, we finally booked the tickets and did it.

I got to meet Leo Laporte and sit in on a taping of Windows Weekly. Leo's one of my entrepreneurial heroes, and it was great to finally meet him in person. The studio is pretty small, but actually a tad larger than I was expecting considering how often its size has been mentioned on the air. The window behind Leo's desk looks out onto the front porch (the Cottage is exactly that, an old cottage). Lots of widescreen monitors, including one that always has the TWiT chat room open, which I think is way cool ( ... )

Oh wow. You answered questions I didn't even ask yet! He did a show (maybe two) touring the new place. It looks quite posh so it does not surprise me that they will want to replicate the old studio in the new.

I just love that you did this and I'm so impressed. I'm not even sure I would have thought to ask. I did see Leo and several TWIT stars at CES but seeing the actual cottage... I've watched Leo since the Screen Savers and have loved watching him build out his own network.

Thanks so much for the report. I really really appreciate it. Wow.

It was also cool to think of all the other people who sat in the chair I sat in - John Dvorak, Kevin Rose, Veronica Belmont, so many more. The whole thing was a thrill.

I knew they did studio visits, but I sort of stumbled into my visit. I was looking at Leo's Twitter feed one day and saw a reply to someone saying to email Eva to arrange a visit. I thought, "What the hell?" and ran with it.

I took some pics of the Cottage studio and the new space. They're uploading now and will be here if you want to take a look: https://picasaweb.google.com/jeff.harbert/TWiTCottageVisit
