I began the second day of Princeton Reunions (Saturday, 5/30) by writing the
previous post. I then checked out the
P-rade, an event that I will probably always refer to as "watching the years go by." Graduates from various years marched through the route, carrying signs with various factoids and/or song lyrics (some of which I was surprised to see, though I couldn't discern any particular theme) and dressed in orange. One shocking statistic (IMO) was something like "87% of 1944 graduates served in WWII." I found a few friends in the crowd, but then just waited for the end of the evening meal whence, similarly to last year, I caught up with the group consisting of Mark, Agatha, Oscar, Sarah, Ale, and Scott, among others. Interestingly, though the first two had moved from Princeton to California to begin building their after-school lives, the next two had actually recently moved back from California to continue theirs. We skipped the concert and instead just chatted before heading out to the fireworks. Multiple times, we were pleasantly surprised by the show continuing after a pause. Still, the show did eventually end, and then we hit up the tent parties. We started at the 15th, but although the songs were good there, the bass wasn't. So we then shifted to the 25th, which was being held in a new building that seemed like a castle to me (complete with a "bridge" and a "courtyard"). We stayed there the whole night; the band was good (playing mostly older songs of the type I grew up with [since my parents always chose the radio station]) and I got a bit of dancing in, but mainly we just conversed until the party ended.
There wasn't much going on on Sunday, but there were still some people to see. I checked out of my room, grabbed lunch, and then chilled out at
Ivy Inn while trying to get ahold of a few people. I eventually met up with Katie for another tradition, ice cream from
Halo Pub. While we were chatting outside the library (it was gorgeous outside), some people at a nearby table recognized me from the show and required my presence in some pictures (honestly, it never gets old). After that, we continued chatting, but eventually we parted ways and I made my return trip to Maryland.
Overall, I'd say the most surprising thing about the reunions was that, for the first time that I can remember, none of the events I attended were spoiled by rain!
