one, you assume there are no missile interceptors in field. There are; 3 tiers of AC3 would have to be penetrated to hit Israel. And then the 1.5decades of work would be for nothing AND Israel would be able to parade the wrecked nuke in front of the world before it and the US attacked back.

two, killing your neighbor because you thought he was going to kill you has never been a defense in court. It won't fly now either.

three, a simpler solution is to simply drop precision bunker busters on the same spot to repeatedly blast holes deeper, and then the final bomb showers the inside of their precious facility with Co60, a very deadly gamma emitter. That would make all their gear inoperable and unrepairable, and any U235 there unrecoverable for at least 40 years. In one smack you throw all their money, talent, skill and facilities away -- they have to start at square one again.

there are more ways than missiles to deliver a nuke.

in a court of law, depends on when you went there. In the court of public opinion (the only one that matters here), yes that is a good case.

methods: Bomber, missile, submarine, ship, truck. None of which are going to get within 100 miles of Israel.

court: While here we have the "he needed killin'" defense, it has never been sucessfully used. You have no more proof that Iran is going to bomb Israel than it will bomb the US. Or anyplace in Western Europe. While I agree Iran is building the bomb, I don't see that anything short of declaring war and bombing the crap out of them will change anything. Instead we need to point out that while they have one physically large and militarily puny weapon, we have thousands and they will be fired the very next day (to let history record clearly who struck first) Iran fires it against anyone, successfully or not. Let Iran get caught in that very expensive game of "we build nukes too" and waste all its capital and resources trying in vain to stand with the big boys in the Nuke club. That's less cash they can give their shadow armies around the world.

1) the Gaza strip is within 100 miles of Israel. So it Lebanon. Your logic is flawed.

2) Yes we do have -proof- that Iran is going to bomb Israel. They have said so again and again and again. What more proof do you need? Them to actually DO it? Really, that's just plain crazy talk. When someone tells you they are going to kill you that is LEGAL PROVOCATION for you to kill them in self defense. And there are A LOT of case law out there to support it.

Israel is a sovereign nation and has the right to attack perceived enemies as it sees fit.

Not a lot else to say on the matter.

Right on! Why the Israelis haven't already struck Iran, and struck hard, is a mystery -- strategically, it's the only thing that can prevent Iran nuking Israel. Israel would be doing everyone a failure -- everyone, including the Iranian people, except the mad mullahs who are the real rulers of Iran, and their puppets, such as their current president.
