Moving to St. Louis next month...

Sep 14, 2011 00:47

I just accepted a new job and now I find myself looking for a place to live. Where else could I turn but to the interwebs to find someone I am more likely to mesh with.

Hey, I'm in the STL Tower Grove South area and you might also consider checking into that area; I've got a nice 1-b for 575. It's walking distance to the South Grand area. My landlord is really great; I can ask her if she's got any other openings if you'd like.

(Welcome to St. Louis!)

(Oh, sorry, here via Radio Free Monday by the way!)

I found this flat (and my first one when I moved here) through Craigslist, so you might check that as well.

Thanks for the info. I am looking at that area, but my parents were a little iffy on it. Is is safe to walk outside at night, or safe to park on the street?

I feel safe here, and I'm a 20-something gal living solo, but i get your parents concern--it's an 'interesting' area. I park on the street all the time and don't worry about it, and I've walked alone at night in the area with no problems. At night I definitely feel safer here than over on the loop.

The thing about STL is that the sketchy areas and the less sketchy areas are side by side--two blocks changes the picture entirely. Keep an eye on the block when you look at places, not just the area. I think the pd's website might have a crime map you might want to check out.
