This whole thing was sort of meant to be sarcastic, Rogue. I mean, yes, I think that's what is thought of us. Everyone - well, not everyone, but just the general public - thinks we are, Rogue. And that's bullshit. I don't think I'm a villain either, Rogue, and someday they'll change their minds.
The only reason why there is an Us vs Them is because they keep sticking their self-righteous noses into it and trying to stop us, which automatically makes two sides of it.
How do you think you'd feel if opinion shifted and suddenly the Brotherhood WERE lauded as heroes? And you were voted America's Sexiest Man? And you had screaming fans everywhere? And people asked you for autographs?
"The anti-hero, as protagonist in fiction, deals with his flaws and those of the people he meets in the course of the story. The typical anti-hero lives by his own values, and is guided by his personal moral compass, striving to define and construe his values, per se, as opposed to those recognized by the society of his world."

An' it shouldn't be about Us vs. Them. It should be about mutants unitin' an' pavin' the way to a brighter, happier future.
But we ain't villains. They'll realize that all soon enough.

Anyway, the world seems to deal with super-powered humans, and aliens, and robots ok. Why not mutants?

Still get weirded out at the "hero" part of the word. But it's closer than "villain".
