So, there was an online health care argument.

Yes, I know better.  No, I don't always do better.

Basically started when someone from a civilized typical country asked "WTF?  Why is this even a question?  Please explain to me why the BFD about a universal health care system."

You just made me realise that you are correct in this assessment.

I've been watching the American healthcare debate and it seems to be that case. Many claim that they do not want to pay for anyone else's healthcare and my mind just melts when they do not realise that they will be paying as a group.

The American myth of individualism does not allow for co-operation?

I've been paying into the National Insurance for over twenty years.
All that time, I have been to hospital twice.

Once for stitches when I gashed my hand against some rock and another when I had a bad case of the flu. Nothing major and I am not resentful towards others who need it more.

It has been good for my family members.
My cousin who fell and ended up with bruised ribs.
My Aunt who had a stroke.
My Grandmother and Father with diabetes.
My sister, during pregnancy with her two children.

I like the knowledge that the NHS exists when I have the need.

Those who resent the thought of Universal healthcare are being selfish.
