First thoughts on this year's telly premieres ...

Now that I've finally recovered from jetlag, a cold I picked up somewhere in an airport, and an insane couple of work weeks on top of that, I've had the chance to start catching up on the fall premieres and season beginnings. Below the cut, my first thoughts.

We seem to overlap on so many shows.

I cried for the entire hour of Glee during their tribute to Finn/Cory. I thought it was very interesting that they never say how Finn died; further blurring the line between character and reality.

I rreally enjoy Elementary. I agree that the character assassination to Lestrade was unjustified and felt wrong to me too.

Blacklist is great and Spader is the perfect!

I am very excited for Supernatural this year. A really good start and I love Tahmoh Penikett.

Sleepy Hollow is my favorite of the new season - stupid baseball is keeping it off the air for the next three weeks.

I really think this worked beautifully. This was always going to be a challenging episode, but by making that choice, it really did blur the lines even further, allowing the fans to say good-bye to Cory and Finn at the same time.

Yay for Blacklist!!! Spader should always be on telly. He's just that good.

And, frankly, I'm happily cheered by how good Supernatural continues to be. Season Nine -- and they're still rocking good characters and good storylines. Off the top of my head, I can't think of another show (North American based), which has achieved that so successfully.

I'm completely with you on SHIELD - what a disappointment! I know it couldn't live up to the hype, but this is just dull. It's phoned in. And they've been commissioned for a full 22 ep series? I don't see how they can stretch this idea that far.

Elementary - well this is the first time I've sat and watched it consistently. It's OK. But it's not Sherlock Holmes. The best way i can describe it is House with crime instead of sickness.

Atlantis - I have a soft-spot for. It's a lot of fun with pretty boys. That's all I need on a Saturday night.

When it comes to SHIELD, as it is a full 22 eps, there is always hope that things will get better. ::contemplates that for a moment::

On the other hand, things could continue to get worse. The next couple of eps will be telling.

Elementary -- it's totally adequate telly and entertaining at times. But as you said, it's not "Sherlock Holmes" for 99% of the episodes.

As for Atlantis, "pretty boys"? Let's agree to disagree. And tomorrow night when we meet up for dinner, we can continue this discussion :D.
