First thoughts on this year's telly premieres ...

Now that I've finally recovered from jetlag, a cold I picked up somewhere in an airport, and an insane couple of work weeks on top of that, I've had the chance to start catching up on the fall premieres and season beginnings. Below the cut, my first thoughts.

Darren has impressed me on many an occasion in Glee. He really does get some cheesy line and storylines, but, kudos to him, he's carried them off. (And I still get choked over his emotion filled version of "Teenage Dream" as he's choking back the tears. That is not only acting, it's amazing singing too.)

As for Chris Colfer -- he was utterly magnificent in that episode. As you said, it was his eyes, his lips, his body language - it all spoke volumes. Kudos to him. I just wish he had *more* screentime.

As for that tribute episode, so many raw performances indeed. How difficult it must have been for them all. I have no doubt that the majority of those tears and emotions were genuine and crossed that fourth wall. I'm getting sniffly again ...

So excited about the premiere of White Collar!! It's been far too long since I've seen Neal and Peter and El and Mozzie :D.

What are you thinking about SPN so far? And how is Amber (from Glee) doing on Dancing with the Stars?

And what are your thoughts on H-50 to date?

I just watched the premiere of White Collar and I'm very excited that they were brave enough to change the dynamic of the relationship between Neal and Peter.

I haven't made up my mind about SPN yet. Especially about Cas being human. Although Sam and the Angel scene was awesome.

Amber is doing great. I am very impressed and she may have a good shot at winning. The losing couple this week was shocking though. I could hardly believe it.

H50 is good so far, just not sure where it's going. There has been a lot of speculation that Wo Fat might be Steve's brother. That was put to rest right away. So we still don't have an answer to Steve's mother and her actions.

I want more Sherlock - now!

I love The Blacklist. It's so good to have Spader back on my screen.

Each episode of SHIELD I tune in thinking, this is it, this one is going to be magic, but it hasn't happened yet. It's confusing and frustrating.

We share a lot more shows that I'd thought. :D

Spader is just deliciously entertaining. He's been off the screen too long in my opinion -- even though Boston Legal didn't end *that* long ago. I really hope this gets renewed. I've been following The Cancellation Bear and it's looking promising for "The Blacklist". The metrics also look good.

As for SHIELD, just about to watch the most recent episode. But, not optimistic.

And what other shows do we share? :)

I hadn't thought to check how The Blacklist is doing. I'm relieved to hear it's looking good. I need to know what the deal with Elizabeth's husband is, and if Raymond is her dad. I kind of want him to be but that would be too obvious, hmm.

I used to watch Glee but stopped after Rachel et all graduated. I did tune in for the Cory episode. His death hit me hard for some reason. Lea is one heck of a strong woman, whew.

I watch and lovelovelove Elementary. Chicago Fire I mainlined earlier this year and that was a lot of fun. I might leave this season be until it's done and then watch it in one go. It's the kind of show that's perfect for that. Sleepy Hollow is alright, it hasn't fully grabbed me yet but I adore the two main characters and their chemistry, and the cast seems awesome. I also watch Once Upon a Time. Have you tried its spin-off Once Upon a Time In Wonderland? The pilot aired in the US recently and I thought it was fun. And well, Supernatural, how could I not.

Is American Horror Story: Coven very brutal/gory? I'm tempted ( ... )

With regards to The Blacklist, there's so much we want to know. And the fact they've set it up so quickly? Kudos to the writers. That's what keeps you coming back :D.

Oh Glee. I have to admit that after the graduation, my love for the show dropped. There were still some good episodes, but the division between the two settings just felt jarring. And I suspect it will still feel jarring. But the Cory episode was spot on. And I fully agree with your comments on Lea.

As for the spin off for Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, I did watch it and was quite entertained. And bonus for Michael Socha as the Knave of Hearts (formerly of Being Human UK fame). But, I'm getting a bad feeling that it's longevity is going to be short lived.

As for AHS:Coven, there are a few gory moments in the first episode (but not overly excessive), but the second episode is extremely tame in gore while still developing the storyline very nicely. It really is good telly :).

Maybe it's because I've only had one proper nights sleep in the last fourteen, but I really, really love Agents of SHEILD. There are, obviously, some moments when my disbelief suspension is pushed to the limits but ... I don't know how to explain it, other than it clicked with me.

I'm right with you on Atlantis though. I got as far as Jason (at least I think it was Jason - I didn't really care) being sucked into a force field thingy at the bottom of the ocean after finding a scrap of metal helpfully labelled The Oracle and waking up naked on a beach and then I turned the TV off. I might have tried sticking it out for longer if they hadn't used the phrase "the legend begins" and I hadn't seen the BBC's desperate tweets offering up shipping names for Jason and Pythagorus but ... No, life is too short. Besides, I was at Pierrefonds two weeks ago, reliving the memories, and I do need need a poorly written substitute just yet!

I'm still giving Agents of SHIELD a go, hoping for the best, but we'll have to see. But I fully understand the "it clicks with me". That's happened to me in the past :D.

As for Atlantis, the promo team on this are just failing. Those tweets about shipping names for Jason and Pythagorus? Seriously? If there's going to be a pairing, leave it to the fans, okay. I was just agog that they would even go there.

As for that wonderful place known as Pierrefonds, here's hoping you enjoyed yourself?

I'd agree with you on most of this! I loved Glee too - the proposal was wonderful. Such feel good TV. All 3 eps of Glee so far this season have been fantastic. I felt much the same way about Elementary - I think it works better as a standalone show in its own right without reference to ACD's world. As a Sherlock Holmes show it rubs me up the wrong way, but as it's OWN show, it's really rather good!

I'm the same with SHIELD. I gather Joss isn't as involved as people assumed, but it's just not a very good show. The ratings aren't great so I wonder if they'll revamp it.

I am loving both Masters of Sex and The Blacklist! Both are excellent!

What can I say, other than I fully agree with everything you've posted! One of these days, we really should meet up. Our adventures in the feline world alone would fill up hours of conversation :D.
