He entered the apartment, silent except for the rustle of overfull plastic bags. Flickering light from the television lit his way through the obstacle course of shoes in the entryway. Excited, ready to celebrate their successful stage, he stopped at the sight before him. Joon sprawled on his stomach on the floor with Mir draped over his back and Thunder draped over Mir’s legs. They looked like overgrown puppies, snuffling and cuddling in their sleep. Seungho and G.O. slept with their heads on opposite arms of the sofa and legs tangled in the middle. Wistful that he would once again not get to eat with his dongsengs, he silently entered the kitchen and prepared to feast on the bags’ contents.

In a world brittle and rushed, he sought warmth wherever it might appear. A stray sunbeam on an overcast day or the rush of warm air from an opening door, he savored each second of heat. When the chill winds of winter bit into his bones and rain turned to sleet, he sought the fires of home. He found a smile, brighter than a stray sunbeam and warmer than any heater, waiting for him. Basking in the warmth of that smile, he felt his heart thaw. The winds fled and the sleet melted in the presence of that smile and he knew he’d never be cold again.

“I’m cuter.”
“I’m smarter.”
“I’m a better rapper.”
“Whatever. You sound like a fucking chipmunk on crack.”
“Fuck you, asshole. You’re just jealous because the fangirls love my chipmunk voice.”
“Ha. They prefer my thoughtful entries on Cyworld to your chipmunk sounding ass.”
“You wish. Who wants a guy who pretends to be all deep and serious when everyone knows you are ridiculous and not a little crazy.”
“Everyone prefers me to you. Deal.”
“You are really delusional.”
“Me? I’m not the one claiming to be loved because I sound like some chattering woodland rodent.”
“Rodent? You just called me a rodent!”
“So?”
“I’ll show you rodent.”

“You’re kidding, right?” He didn’t sound too hopeful, though.
“Why would I be kidding?” G.O. waggled his eyebrows.
“You’re not actually gonna give her that.” Cheondong shook his head at G.O. “Seriously. That’s not cool.”
“What’s wrong with it?” He studied his gift, baffled at the lack of appreciation. “It’s sexy.”
“Sexy? You’re suppose to be doing romantic, you idiot.” Cheondong considered smacking G.O. but decided it wasn’t worth the effort.
“This is romantic.” Huffing, G.O. put the present back in its gift bag and flicked Cheondong on the nose. “You are just too young to understand.”
Grumbling, Cheondong said to G.O.’s retreating back, “I’m old enough to understand you suck at being romantic. Poor girl.”
