It was already past midnight when Aiba slipped silently out of his four poster bed and into his dog slippers. Even though there was no-one else around he still felt the need to sneak out of his dorm and down the stairs. Disappearing underneath the invisibility cloak, he slipped carefully out through the Gryffindor portrait hole. He had no plan of where he was headed, yet he had not been able to resist the temptation of wandering through the castle invisible.

As he tiptoed through the hollow hallways, he slipped unnoticed past Ghost’s and teachers alike. However, Shigeru’s pet Komodo Dragon Taichi was able to feel his presence. The long tongue curled around Aiba’s slippers, underneath the cloak. “Taichi-kun? What is it? What can you feel?” Aiba froze, holding his breath as Shigeru came shuffling around the corner of the corridor. He headed directly to the spot where Aiba stood. Quickly Aiba edged his way around Taichi and down the wall of the corridor, out of sight of Shigeru.
“I know you were there, Akira!” Aiba bounced back a step as out of nowhere Professor Akasawa came flying against the wall, Professor Nagase holding the collar of his robes.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Tomoya-kun.” Akasawa said in a shaky voice.
“Thanks to you that dog bit me. Look.” Professor Nagase pulled up the leg of his trouser to reveal a massive bite mark. Just then Aiba sneezed. He regretted it straight away, for Nagase let go of Akasawa and spun around to face the spot where Aiba was.
“Who’s there?!” He squinted in the darkness. Aiba decided to make a dash for it. Swooping under Nagase’s open arm he ran as fast as he could without looking back. After a few more corners he tried to open the first door he saw. It was locked. Hearing footsteps growing louder, he began to panic. What was the spell Matsujun had used? Aloharoara? Alohaminium? Alohamora? That was it! Hurriedly he whispered “Alohamora.” Instantly the door unlocked. Aiba grabbed the handle and pulled it open. Diving inside he shut it quietly behind him, making sure to lock it. In the darkness he waited until the heavy footsteps of Nagase passed by.
“Lumos.” Aiba’s wand lit up the tiny room. He pulled off the invisibility cloak and wrapped it stylishly around his waist. The room was an empty classroom, a lot smaller than any in which Aiba’s lessons took place. All the desks had been moved to the back of the room, where dark curtains blocked out the moonlight. As Aiba slowly passed them he noticed a small layer of dust covering the tables. The room obviously was not used often. Casting his light over the centre of the room, Aiba came across the largest self-standing mirror he had ever seen. The metal frame was old, but the glass looked strangely modern. Like a computer. Colours zoomed around it, much like a screensaver does. Across the top of the metal frame were the words; “Decor est non panton.” It was either French or Latin; Aiba really wasn’t very good at languages. Moving around to stand directly in front of the mirror Aiba got a rather big shock when the colours stopped whizzing around to form an image. It was a mirror-image of Aiba. There he stood, cloak tied around his waist with the same expression of surprise on his face, but he was surrounded by animals. However, he was still in the middle of the small, dark classroom. How could there be animals in the mirror? A lion roared silently, Aiba pressed his nose up against the mirror. But it was just a mirror. No entrance to some other place. Just glass. There were bunnies and kittens on the floor. A dog sat licking its paw on top of an elegant white horse next to Aiba’s shoulder. In the background Aiba could see Zebras and Giraffes grazing contently. Was this mirror showing him his future? He examined it intensely for a few more minutes before deciding he had to go tell someone else.

Matsujun or Sho-chan? Aiba hadn’t a clue where the Slytherin dorms were, and he decided he’d rather not go wandering the dungeon corridors in the dark, so it was Sho-chan. Hidden securely underneath the invisibility cloak, Aiba sprinted through the castle towards the Ravenclaw tower. Up the stairs he leapt taking two at a time. He reached the Ravenclaw portrait and skidded to a halt. How was he going to get in? He didn’t want to wake up the whole castle, so banging on it was not going to help. He could try and guess the password, but it was probably a word he had never even heard of. He noticed one of the tower’s windows above the Ravenclaw dorms was half open. Maybe he could get Sho’s attention from the outside. He walked up to the window and opened it as far as it would go. Summoning a piece of string out of his wand, he tied it tightly to the window’s handle. Thank god he was light-weighted. With the other end he made a harness for himself. Slowly and carefully the invisible figure of Aiba lowered himself out of the window until he came across one of the Ravenclaw dorms. Aiba peered inside, hoping Sho-chan was in this dorm. Even in the darkness he was able to make out the handsome figure of the older boy sleeping.
“Sho-chan!” Aiba hissed, rapping the window lightly with his knuckles, but the boy didn’t stir. Aiba looked around the room to see how many more boys were inside. He could only see three others. Shige and Koyama he recognised as the commentators from the Quidditch match, peacefully asleep in one bed. Then there was one other who Aiba did not recognise, asleep in the furthest bed from the window. Well, if it was the only way to wake Sho-chan. Aiba held out his wand and muttered the spell he knew the most. He sent a shower of bright, glittering, colourful sparkles from his wand which exploded abruptly. “WHAT? WHAT?” All four boys in the Ravenclaw dorm jumped out of their beds. “Who’s there?” Sho walked up to the window, the other three boys hid behind him. “Ow, Murakami! Get off my foot!” Shige gave the other a shove.
Sho peered out of the window. “I don’t see anyone…”
“It’s me! Aiba!” Aiba pulled the hood of his cloak off, giving the impression that his head was floating in mid air. Shige, Koyama and Murakami all yelped and fell backwards.
“Aiba-chan?! What the hell are you doing?!!” Sho mouthed through the window.
“I can’t get in through the portrait hole, and I didn’t want to wake up the whole castle.” Aiba replied, his cold breath steaming up the window.
“Get back inside and I’ll open it for you.” Sho said in a concerned voice.

Sho opened the Ravenclaw portrait hole. “That was really dangerous Aiba-chan.” He said in a stern voice which made Aiba like him even more.
“I know, but I have to show you this Sho-chan!” Aiba grabbed Sho’s wrist and pulled him underneath the invisibility cloak. It was only as they walked through the dark corridors, Sho muttering that they shouldn’t be wandering the castle in the middle of the night, that Aiba realised Sho was only wearing his thin pyjamas. A few hentai thoughts began to flow through his head and Aiba subtly drew himself nearer to Sho. “Do you actually know where you’re going?” Sho whispered to Aiba.
“Wha?...Oh…um…yeah….it was somewhere down here.” Aiba turned his thoughts to finding the room. “Somewhere…” Sho muttered rolling his eyes.
“Here!” Aiba suddenly stopped, swinging around to face the door. It was only a moment, but in a chain of small coincidences Aiba felt Sho’s hand touch his behind. Both boys froze awkwardly. “Sorry, sorry…I didn’t mean to…” Even in the darkness Aiba could see Sho blushing. However, Sho wasn’t moving his hand. “Ne, Sho-chan…” But Aiba’s attempt at a confession about his feelings for Sho-chan was interrupted by the sound of quiet chatter floating down the corridor. Not wanting to chance it Aiba unlocked the door and ushered Sho inside. With the door locked behind them, Aiba threw off the cloak.

The two boys stood in front of the mirror. “Can you see?! It’s me right? With loads of animals!” Aiba had decided it was not the time to confess to Sho-chan; instead he was eager to show Sho the image in the mirror. “I only see a load of colours zooming around.” Sho said in a puzzled voice.
“No no. Maybe you have to stand right in front of it!” Aiba positioned Sho, who suddenly gasped. “See! You see it now!”
“It’s me!” Sho exclaimed, blinking at the mirror in disbelief.
“You?” Aiba was confused. Did this mirror show something different for every person?
“Yeah! I’m head boy! My Dad is beside me, he looks really proud!”
“Ne ne, Sho-chan…do you recon this shows the future?” Aiba sat himself down on a desk at the back of the room.
“I sure hope so!” Sho grinned, still gazing into the mirror. Aiba smiled, Sho-chan’s smile was one of the most beautiful things he had seen during his meaningless life so far.

“Yo Matssun!” Aiba called across the hall to the tall, dark Slytherin.
“It’s Matsujun.” Matsujun growled back, but obediently joined Aiba and Sho at the Ravenclaw table, to a few disgusted looks from certain other Slytherin students. “So, what’s up?”
“Are you free tonight? We’ve got something to show you. Ne…NE Sho-chan!” Aiba nudged a very sleepy looking Sho.
“Huh? Oh, yeah.” Sho looked up long enough to nod before his head hit the table again.
“What’s up with him?” Matsujun looked down at the sleeping pile of Sakurai Sho.
“Oh~ we were up all night last night.” Aiba replied in his usual cheerful voice. Matsujun raised his eyebrow distinctively. Aiba seemed to read his mind. “Not in that way! I found this room and…no it’s not hentai!” Aiba scolded Matsujun for his dirty thoughts. “Anyway, the room has a mirror. And, well it’s an amazing mirror! We think it shows the future.” He whispered the last part of the sentence.
“Really?” Matsujun seemed mildly interested for once.
“Yup. Meet us by the portrait of Michael Jackson on the fourth floor at midnight, and don’t get caught. I think you should wear dark clothes.” Aiba gave a thoughtful pause.
“Duh.” Matsujun rolled his eyes and looked down at his black robes.
“Oh, yeah. Haha.” Aiba laughed nervously. Shoving a spoonful of cornflakes into his mouth.

Aiba spent the day with Sho and his fellow Ravenclaws who had stayed over Christmas. Shige and Koyama were a pair, Aiba didn’t need to ask them, they made their relationship pretty obvious. They had decided to stay at Hogwarts during Christmas so that they could spend more time together; apparently neither had yet told their parents of their relationship. Murakami Shingo was the step-son of Professor Satou, the head of Ravenclaw, and had wanted to spend this Christmas with his step-father. He was quite a bright spark too and had already been reserved a job place at the ministry of magic once he had completed his schooling. Sho’s reason for staying made Aiba laugh. Apparently Sho believed he’d be able to study more if he stayed in a school environment, why anyone would want to study during Christmas baffled Aiba.

Finally midnight drew up. Aiba and Sho hurried along underneath the invisibility cloak towards the portrait of Michael Jackson. “I hope he hasn’t been caught.” Aiba whispered nervously.
“Ah~ even if he was, I don’t think any teacher would punish him.” Sho smirked. Rounding the final corner the boys spotted a shadow of a figure stood back against the wall underneath the portrait of Michael Jackson.
“Matssun! Matssun!” Aiba whispered loudly beside the figure which jumped slightly with shock. “Come on, get under here.” Aiba threw the cloak as best as he could around all three of them.
“I told you, it’s Matsujun!” Came the hissy reply. “And I don’t think this quite covers us all.” He glanced down at their feet which were peeking out.
“Doesn’t matter.” Sho muttered. “It’s just down here.” And with that the three boys came to a halt in front of the door. Aiba unlocked the door once more and they all entered.
“Come on! What do you see?” Aiba and Sho dragged Matsujun to the mirror.
“…” Matsujun just stood, staring slightly puzzled into the mirror.
“And~ And?! What is it?” Aiba bounced behind trying to get a glimpse but saw nothing.
“It’s just a mirror. I just see me.” Matsujun turned to look at Aiba and Sho, hand on his hip. “You guys dragged me here just to see my reflection in a mirror?!”
“Huh? No?!” Aiba took Matsujun’s place in front of the mirror. “See, I see myself with loads of animals.” Aiba pointed.
“Well, unless I have no future, I don’t think it works.” Matsujun huffed.

“It shows what you desire most. Whatever that maybe.” A calm voice spoke out from one of the desks. The boys all spun around to see Johnny-san perched on the edge of a dusty desk.
“Johnny-san? What’s that suppose to mean?” Matsujun eyed the small man suspiciously.
“Well, take Sakurai-kun for example.” Johnny stood up. “He strives to make his parents proud; therefore the mirror will show just that. And you, Aiba-kun.” Johnny went on, walking towards the boys, “You see yourself surrounded by a zoo of animals. You desire nothing more than the comfort that only animals can give.” The old man stopped in front of the mirror.
“And what about me then?” Matsujun replied coldly.
“Well you, my boy, you have what you desire the most.” He gave Matsujun a smile. “You have your beauty.” He paused briefly.
“But this mirror only shows us what we desire; it does not hold any other truth in it. Tomorrow I will be moving it, and I have to beg of you boys not to go spreading rumours of a fortune-telling mirror to the rest of the school.” Johnny bowed, hinting that it was time for the boys to leave.
“Right, we better go then…” Sho replied extremely politely and the three boys slipped out of the room, covering themselves once more under Aiba’s cloak. Little did anyone suspect, but Matsujun, an excellent actor, had lied about what he had seen. And he was now extremely glad he had, for he did not want to know what Aiba or Sho, or even old Johnny-san for that matter, would have thought about his desire to become King of the world.
