I can join the chorus of likely the rest of Louisville KY when i say, as U2 sang in their song, "Its a beautifull day". Guys, the sun is shining and I love it. I got back from church today. Jeffery, I love you so I am going to correct the error you made. To say God is not fair is to say he isn't God. He is fair and just, therefore he has to punish man for their sins. He sent Jesus to do that. Jesus was in our place and took our sins (well the sins of the saved anyway). The unsaved will be punished with hell. So God fulfilled his justice and gave grace to man through his son. In the same way if God were not in control he wouldn't be God either. So Kushner is completely wrong. I hope this is helpful! I love you! It has been really pretty here too. Yesterday was AMAZING!

I totally forgot LJ existed until they emailed me today and I was reading over this time capsule of embarrassment. (This is Jeff.) Boy, was I a big dummy at 19. I don’t think the kid below even thought about what you wrote before he replied. Hope you’re doing well!! Jessica IIRC, right?

Thanks for the thoughtfull response. But I disagree. This is something that I have been turning over in my head for awhile. It really hinges on your idea of the extent of the atonement. Sin is definately something that God wil not tolerate and will punnish in full. And Christ certainly made satisfaction for sin by bearing the wrath of God in our place. The grace that I am speaking of is often refered to as common grace. Its the grace that God gives to unbelievers to keep them from killing over and going to Hell right here and now. It enables them to be inteligent and form ordered socioties. It is why we have food that tastes good. It is for the good of His elect and to the praise of Himself. It sais in Matthew that the rain falls on the just and the unjust. Its saying that good things happen to bad people. believers and unbelievers. Some people think that this grace flows from the atonement of Christ. I, along with Wayne Grudem, do not. because the sin of the unbeleiver, in the end, is still going to be atoned for with just punishment ( ... )
