You know what, the economy is where it is because there were no checks and balances already. People were pissed and wanted to flush everyone out. Unfortunately, we went a bit too far in the other direction. We need checks and balances right now. Or mainly balances 'cause we shouldn't be writing any checks. *snerk*

My solace is that Obama doesn't seem like a war-loving frat-boy and is totally Gay Friendly, too bad his VP isn't -- can we kick Biden out and have McCain as VP? THAT'D be AWESOME. (you know, if we couldn't have Hillary)

Yeah, I think Obama has actually moved slightly more to the center, which is encouraging in the fact that the scales won't go flying out of control when the shift comes in January. I'm still a bitter Hillary supporter though. She better get a good position in his regime, because I'm sure that's the only reason she backed him as fervently as she did lol

They're both middle of the road guys. There's sooo much potential right now that I'm absolutely terrified. I'm a fucking American, I shouldn't be terrified of my government -- but thanks to Bush'n'Cheney I'm totally scared to even think about the possibility of everyone working together and rising up.

Obama, McCain and Clinton all working together -- I wish it could happen -- you know how awesome we'd be with them working together to better our country/future?

Oh I know, it would be incredible if this was finally what seals the party divides. Unfortunately I think this might just end up polarizing the country even more. Quite a few McCain supporters aren't just McCain fans, they hate Obama. For whatever reason, they are scared to death of a Obama regime. And that might end up sticking.

Frankly I'm just glad the whole thing is over, I was getting so sick and tired of it all. lol

I was thinking in the last week or two that the best thing would be for McCain to be in office and not die. I still think Obama is a sort of Pied Piper and even if things go to shit they'll still be chanting his name, but I'm going to reserve judgement until things start happening as he takes over. And I want to see how the NZ election goes, because whoever our PM is will continue to kiss arse like nobody's business.

*shrugs*

I agree. I was hoping for some kind of balance against the congress. I am worried now. I also can't stand Biden. Unlike some of you, obviously, I did like Sarah Palin. I came to respect and admire her greatly. Especially her grace under a savage media assault.

But that's just me. I'm a bitter lesbian former supporter of Hillary Clinton. *snicker*

All we can do now is hold Obama's feet to the fire and hope for the best. That and ignore the media, journalism died during this election cycle.

You know, while I don't agree with alot of Sarah Palin's beliefs and ideaologies, I think she is an incredibly bright and well spoken woman. And the media has been absolutely sickening in their treatment of her.

And not just her. People want to talk about how groundbreaking having a black president is. And they're right, absolutely no doubt about that. But in that same step, we've put women's rights a giant leap backwards. Hillary Clinton did not fare much better than Palin.
