Reg/reg_flint might appreciate this whenever they return, right? So, my copy of Jody Revenson's Harry Potter: The Character Vault just shipped in yesterday. I thought I lost interest in Harry Potter, and perhaps I did for awhile there, but this book has really brought me back to this universe. The content is, naturally amazing, even though a lot of it is

Thank you - yes definitely interested. Good that you still think of me related to this material after all this time. But I was pretty cracked over Severus. Still am to a lesser degree ;)

I know. I know you want a lot of separation from this, understandably. I'm still a bit of a admirer myself of the character, even though he's... frankly... a... dick (please don't hate me), but like you, a bit less these days. The images I think I was most excited about was baby Lily and the costume sketch (because I'm a costume freak). This girl is so beautiful. I think a lot of it has to do with her reminding me a friend from 5th grade who I recently got back into touch with. She doesn't look like Lily, she's blonde and blue-eyed, but she reminds me of her greatly. I'm not sure if this is the reason, but it may be.

Of course he's a complete dick. If he didn't have rough edges he'd be just another monomaniac fixated hopelessly on the unattainable - if had never been a death eater, he would not be so useful. :D He's still a source of inspiration when I write a lot of my scifi.

I think that's why I can't hate Severus. Yes, yes. He's a dick. But he's super well-rounded as a character. No one can deny that. If I knew him in real life, I'd probably hate his balls. But I can wholly appreciate him a character all the same.

He's still a source of inspiration when I write a lot of my scifi.

Bloody awesome. Severus is at least positive in this sense, is he not?
