Just rewatched an episode of "The Avengers" -- the proper Avengers, John Steed and company, none of this Marvel gubbins -- which I haven't seen in nearly thirty years: "Homicide And Old Lace". Good God, it's a particular kind of genius

What a thoroughly entertaining episode! I disagree about the drunkenness of whoever worked it, though. It's too sharp and clever for intoxicated work. Whoever managed it got drunk beforehand, sobered up, cut it up and stitched it back together, and then probably got deservedly drunk again.

I'm sure I'm must have seen this one in the PBS run of The Avengers, but I don't recall it.

I'm also trying to reconcile Avengers fans complaining about an episode being too silly. ;p
