I'm sorry, but Kameron Hurley set my teeth on edge. Too much with the mansplaining. He had some valid points but--they got buried in other stuff. Maybe if he hadn't kept bringing up LeGuin whilst subtly getting the philosophy off. Not a huge off, but just enough askance.

(And also--anyone of the human male variant who wants to go off on female hierarchical structures not being hardwired had damned well better spend some time around dominant females of other species. Alpha females do structure differently and it's tied to bearing young. That doesn't mean they're all lovey-dovey--as anyone who has encountered a protective alpha mare with a newborn foal will tell you.)
