Okay, I know individual seats went, a few to the lib dems, and I'm glad of that, I really am ( Read more... )

i agree, i don't think as much headway was made into three-part-politics as the lib dems or their supporters had hoped. watching the election coverage until my eyes bled and i fell asleep it seems to me that in trying to win seats from the tories they actually misinterpreted the mood of the public, since it's disaffected labour voters who don't want to move to the right, from whom they have taken a pretty proportional swing of the votes. it's just a shame that a lot of this swing was in safe labour seats. i think what it did prove that there is a lot more trust for the lib dems and that people view them as credible. maybe it was too much for them to expect to make a massive amount of gains in parliament this time. apparently they've gained about 15 odd seats, which will give them a stronger voice in parliament and we'll just have to see what happens ( ... )

yeah, I'll be very interested to see what happens when the rebels turn out for something, life won't be easy for the whips... but I'd far rather not have an electic dictatorship.

I's still gutting the numberof people who say "I won't vote lib deb as they can't win"... yeah... not wile you think like that. fool.

Sigh.

Elections eh?

I don't claim to know much about politics but I did watch the election coverage from about 12-6 (I'm not sure why, i couldn't seem to tear myself away). I listened to all those experts talking about it all and based on this it seems that actually Lib Dems did pretty well... It's about what is expected of the parties, and from this point of view the LibDems did better than the others. Labour won with the lowest majority of votes of any general election ever with just about 35%. This seems to be because of the rise of LibDems. I think it's just unfortunate that although LibDems got about 22% of the vote they didn't get a really fair share of seats but that's the way it goes. I think it's an encouraging result for LibDems. Labour lost about 60 seats and although the Tories gained seats they expected more and this isn't very good for them really. But anyway it was a good night for Liberal Democrats so stop your moaning. I'm just gutted that David Bowie didn't do better.

I just would that the number of seats gained was tied more closely to the proportion of votes.

Hey there sugar muffin, it's Molsabeth. Yeah, sorry about the whopping two seat gain. I was a bit surprised at the outcome, as well. Hope everything's going peachy, otherwise!
